Annotated Bibliography
Only use 3 sources, 5-6 sentences per source
Double spaced, 1 margins, Times New Roman
Due: Thursday, March 12th at 4pm
Search for 3 journal articles/book chapters from academic peer-reviewed sociological journals
on sociological studies that examine the phenomena/issues/communities that you plan to
observe in your data
Guidelines for sources:
At least 1 of your sources must be empirical (ie. use actual data to make an argument).
At least 2 of your sources must use a qualitative method to get you thinking about how
other scholars use the methods you are learning about this quarter.
Your sources should be sociological (note: please be mindful on your search so you can
avoid relating your study to other disciplines like Psychology, Media Studies, etc.).
Published since the year 2003.
1) Cite the article using ASA format
2) Provide analysis of the article.
What concepts are being used that are of benefit to your work?
What conversation is being had and how does your work contribute?
3) Give an explanation of how this study relates to your project
How does this article help you develop or refine your understanding of the case
study, community, themes/topics you will explore in your research?
Which terms/concepts seem useful for you? Which specific ideas of the author
might you incorporate in your paper?
