Annotated Bib

Students are to read eight (8) theoretical articles that have been published in peer-reviewed journals during the last three years. Please note that the articles should be about theory or theoretical issues. The annotated bibliography will consist of a full APA citation for each article and a brief critique/summary. No more than three articles can come from one source (journal).

This example includes an evaluation of the qualifications of the authors. It is NOT necessary for you to do that for this assignment.

Please note that Grounded Theory IS NOT A THEORY but a research methodology for generating theory. An article on grounded theory is not appropriate for this assignment, but a discussion of a theory generated by grounded theory research could be appropriate.

1. Make sure the articles are from peer-reviewed journals within the past 3 years. You will be looking for articles that are about theory or a theoretical issue. Do not use an article that just has a “blurb” about a theoretical issue. I put in “nursing theory” into the CINAHL search engine and it produced over 119,000 articles! You can further narrow your search by focusing on particular area of interest, such as COVID. When I added COVID, it produced almost 4,000 articles. You will need 8 articles for this assignment.
2. An annotated bibliography is a list of sources (books, articles, websites, etc.) with short paragraph about each source. For the purpose of this assignment, you will be using 8 peer-reviewed journal articles that are about nursing and theoretical issues. Annotations are about 4 to 6 sentences long (roughly 150 words), and address:

• Main focus or purpose of the work
• Usefulness or relevance to your topic
• Special features of the work that were unique or helpful
• Background and credibility of the author
• Conclusions or observations reached by the author
• Conclusions or observations reached by you
