1. Your objective in writing this policy brief is to inform legislators so that they are able to consider policy solutions that will shape or guide specific decisions.
2. Your audience for the brief includes government officials at the local, state, regional, or national level. Remember to write in a way that is easily understandable to government officials who may have little understanding of nursing, healthcare, or scientific evidence/research. Simply putthe brief has to be easy to read and easy to understand. Brevity, clarity, and a good visual presentation are critical.

1. The maximum length of your policy brief should be 2000 words (excluding Title Page, Table of Contents, Executive Summary, and Bibliography).
2. You may use some of the alternate formatting presented with graphic design for your policy brief if you are so creatively and technically inclined. This is not required. There are no grading criteria that will give you an advantage or disadvantage for not doing so. Content is key here. This is simply an option for those who would enjoy that expression of creativity. It adds an element of professionalism and has a bit of a wow factor, but again, in no way required.
