- Evidence understanding of some of the specific therapeutic interventions in more depth, including how these models can be applied with diverse populations.
Purpose

Instructions
This assignment allows a critical comparison of a singular therapeutic theoretical model from each of the domains of the course: humanism and psychodynamics. Students will critically compare models and key constructs or underlying principles of each model. Here are some examples of possible model and constructs/underlying principles one could consider:
- Exploring relational patterns and transference in Object Relations approaches. One example could be experiencing the therapist as uninterested when they pause to think and are not responding, as the client had a parent who was preoccupied with their own difficulties, and not as responsive to the clients needs.
- The use of metaphors in gestalt therapy. One example could be an image in the dream being a metaphor for how a client sees themselves, such as a wave in the ocean.
- Applying Adlerian lifestyle assessment in therapy. One example could be utilizing early recollections (memories) and related themes.
- Empathy and congruence in person-centered therapy. One example could be exploring how a therapist is genuine and authentic while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Meaning and responsibility in existential therapy. One example could be attunement with the client and recognizing that their anxiety also relates to mortality and the purpose of their life.
